DEPARTMENT OFÂ KAYACHIKITSA
Introduction
Kayachikitsa is the subject taught in the final year B.A.M.S. Professional Degree course, It is the important basic clinical subject of Ayurveda. It is one of the eight branches (Ashtang) of Ayurved. There are 3 Theory papers in syllabus.
There are 6 seats for Post Graduate degree course M.D. (Kayachikitsa) Dept is approved Ph.D center for MUHS. Department is having well qualified, studious co-operative and experienced staff. Departmental library is well maintained. Sane Guruji Arogya Kendra is attached for clinical knowledge where a variety of cases are available as clinical material. Students get knowledge of Ayurveda as well as modern science to face emergency condition as ICU facility is available.
Objectives
- Department takes effort to prepare best clinicians, academicians and socially aware persons during college life.
- Department is interested in conducting research in providing cure & care for chronic diseases with the help of Ayurved.
Departmental Features
- Kayachikitsa department is having separate UG and PG setup with library, specimens; charts, models which is essential for teaching.
- Dept. has completed a research project on Sickle cell anaemia which was funded by CCRAS, New Delhi.
- Two projects are in process in EMR scheme one on Tuberculosis and second on Diabetes Mellitus
- PG students are promoted for clinical research work by faculty of department.
One PG student has been honored with CCRAS scholarship. One student has got best paper presentation award in Update Ayurved which was held in Pune in Nov 2009.
General and special activities of the Department:
- Kayachikitsa dept has been organizer for CMEs for medical officers and for panchakarma seminars for students.
- Regular Interactive Discussion on the basis Commentaries of Compendia is conducted in the department .
- Department takes part in various Health check up camps organized by Institution.
- Department took active part in prevention of epidemic of Swine flu by participating in vaccination programme and in promoting Ayurvedic medicine (Guduchyadi Quath)
- Department promotes PG students in clinical Research work.
- Case presentations and clinical meetings.
Future plans
- To deliver most of the lectures with the help of audio visual aids.
- To improve quality of lectures by all means.
- To conduct lectures of renowned persons in the field of Ayurved to develop belief and faith in Ayurved.
- To conduct lectures of renowned persons from modern science which will help to enhance knowledge
- To increase no. of OPD & IPD of Department.
- Propagation of Ayurved and its principles in general population by various means viz. medical camps, public lectures etc.
